Washington DC Architecture

The Old Post Office Building  Washington DC

Completed in 1899 to house the U.S. Post Office Department Headquarters and Washington DC city's post office, the Old Post Office Building is the second-tallest structure in the nation's capital, after the Washington Monument. The Old Post Office Building occupies an entire city block, centered on the north side of the Federal Triangle along Pennsylvania Avenue.  The Old Post Office Building exhibits a matured version of the Romanesque Revival style, which was popularized by renowned architect H.H. Richardson in the late nineteenth century.

US Capitol Rotunda / Washington DC Photography

Been busy shooting and adding a lot of new Washington DC Images to my Collection of Washington DC Photography this past month for an upcoming book project.  My favorite building in Washington DC has always been the US Capitol.  I never tire of seeing it up close - at different times of day and light - for me it's architecture is simply beautiful.  The interior isn't as accessible as it used to be but if you have the chance take a visit to the Rotunda.  Truly awe inspiring architectural design and well worth the effort.

Fall Color in Washington DC

October is my favorite Month of the Year.  I am truly blessed to live in my little corner of this world that for a short few weeks simply glows with spectacular fall color.  The shots above are basically the view I enjoy through the large picture window in front of my desk, here in my office.  I hope you might,  as I do,  slow down and take a little time each day to enjoy the Beauty of the World around you.

Details in Nature / Macro

Macro / Details in Nature - Images by Randy Santos / dcstockimages.com

I recently bought a Canon 100mm 2.8L Macro. I just started shooting with it this past weekend, what a fantastic lens!  Here's a little gallery of what I've shot so far.  I'm fortunate to have realized great success in marketing my Collection of Washington DC Photography and am always looking towards expanding the scope of work I might offer within my existing client base.  I'm fascinated with the Details in Nature and this lens enables me to capture what I see at this scale - hopefully I will produce (and successfully market) a body of work that will allow me to supplement existing projects and extend my reach towards a newly targeted market segment.

No Snow

iPhone w/ Hipstamatic + OldPhoto
February is over and Spring is almost here - by now our chances of any substantial snowfall in the DC Area are about 0%.  Too bad - I love a massive crippling accumulation when everything shuts down for a few days - it also makes for great images.  Going through my iPhone Photo Gallery I came across this image from last year at the beginning of one such Storm. I don't mind though - and am ready for Spring in DC.  I live in the Enchanted Forest and soon everything will be blossoming and blooming.
